One year after the defeat of the Leviathans, Dean escapes Purgatory, with a vampire-comrade-in-arms named Benny, and reunites with Sam who has retired from hunting much to Dean's anger.

This season is one year after Dean went into Purgatory. Compare to last season, this season not really entertaining. The main plot kinda simple. Making the whole season kinda flat. Well Demon is not really an issue, the Angel business is kinda annoying. It fun to see Castiel again. This season have too much plot hole. One thing that I notice is, isn't Prophet suppose to be protect from Demon. "If Demon in the same room with the Prophet, an Archangel will kill the threat" Quote from season 4 or 5. So why is Kevin so easily being kidnapped by Crowley. Doesn't make sense. Even Angel have been kidnapped and torture. Isn't Angel suppose to be the strong ones? (compare to season 5)
For me, this season is not really entertaining. The main plot is not strong enough. The best season is still 1-5. There are still everyday monster hunting, and special episode. Well the special episode is entertaining kinda remind me the old Supernatural that have special episode here and there. The bromance Sam and Dean is entertaining enough. The flashback is one of the strong point. It kinda remind me of Arrow that have a bit of flashbacks here and there and at suitable moments. The Purgatory scene with less colour is really make Purgatory some gloomy and scary place but I really disappointed with Hell. Last I saw Hell in season 4, it have this really scary, creepy and bloody place but in this season make me think, "Is this Hell? kinda look like a normal prison". It make the visualization of Hell kinda bleh.
Overall, this season have the high and low points. Some episode is entertaining enough. The grandpa Winchester is really interesting episode but it kinda make me wonder that everyone else dies is fine as long it is not Sam and Dean. Dean easily sacrifice other people as long not Sam. Some episode kinda flat and boring. Not really the best season.
The ending is another strong point. Not with the old Sam/Dean gonna die/missing, the audience are showed falling Angels. Well that is the ending that make a big impact.
With that I rate this season 3 out of 5. Just ok not great and not bad either. Well at least finally Sam and Dean have their bat cave hahaha.
